Pickup: where the tours collect you

  • Downtown Panama City and Casco Viejo. Included on the tours we read, usually around 8 am; on its Chagres River day, Safe Transportation Panama emails the exact time after 8:30 pm the night before.
  • Playa Bonita and the airport area. Extra on several tours: US$30 per group on Jhaline Tours’ Tusipono day and on Safe Transportation Panama’s Monkey Island and Embera day, paid in cash.
  • Tocumen and Veracruz. Pickup points on Jose Acevedo’s Emberá Drúa day, from $79 (checked November 2026).
  • Cruise passengers. Embera Village Tours collects from hotels or the port and asks for your ship’s name and times at booking: see the Lake Alajuela day, from $205 a person for two or more, park fees included (checked November 2026). Safe Transportation Panama’s Chagres River day picks up in downtown Panama City and Casco Viejo; on a cruise day, ask it about the port before you book.

Going on your own

The way in is a drive to Chilibre and on to Puerto Corotú, then a canoe from there (Panama’s tourism authority). No Chagres community publishes a way to book a canoe and a visit directly. Visitors register at the park’s administrative headquarters and pay MiAmbiente’s fee through the trámites (procedures) section of its website, as the ministry set out when it reopened the park on 1 September 2026. The tourism authority recommends going with a tour operator, since the park has no visitor facilities of its own.
